Week 2: Here is my paper from week two which discusses the iPod as an innovation.

Week 3: Here is my paper from week three which discusses criticims of diffusion research.

Erin-
I am glad to see that you like a student focused classroom. I feel the same way. I also believe that iPods are an excellent idea for classroom motivation and engagement. It was actually one of my top three choices. I look forward to what you come up with through this process. Good work,

Kassidy,

Erin,
I did a project on iPods in the classroom. Here is the link to my wiki that has some resources that might help you with your project. http://8823.wikispaces.com/ I really think this innovation is an excellent choice and will be a good thing to use in the classroom. I look forward to seeing your project develop.
-Jolandra

Erin,

I enjoyed reading both yours and Angela's papers about using the iPod as an innovative instructional device. Even though both of you are researching the same topic, you approach it from slightly different perspectives. I like the reference you used about ELL students and learning with iPods. When I lived in Texas, I became certified to teach ELL/ESL students. This was a focus of mine for several years. I will keep this in mind when recommending resources for teachers.

Week 4: Storyboard for the iPod as an innovation

Erin- I am relieved to see someone else using something other than powerpoint. One suggestion: you start so excitingly with the iPod dance and music, can you keep some type of music playing the whole time? Of course this comment is meant for your final project, not just your storyboard. It looks to me like you are going to have an amazing presentation (that I may want to steal (or just borrow permanently when you are finished!)

Erin,
Great start! I am planning on using moviemaker as well. I think PowerPoint is not animated enough. I like your intro but it sets up high expectations for lots of multimedia. I am sure you are adding ot later. My only feedback is I might limit the amount of text per page. Like PowerPoint, it may be too distracting to readers or viewers. Just a suggestion. Take a look and see if it makes sense. Also check out this website. http://www.speedofcreativity.org/handouts/ It may have some resources you could use on iPods.
-Jolandra

Erin,
I really enjoyed the opening segment. I only have a few recommendations. Instead of presenting the information in paragraph format, maybe use a bulleted list. Also, add more timing to the slides if you intend to keep the large amount of information on the slide. At times, the transition was little fast. During the developmental stages (the Apple section), a timeline with events popping up may be an presentation technique. Overall, you have a great start.
I see that we are both using the Hew article. I think it is a phenomenal resource. I have been trying to locate the Clark & Walsh reference from 2004, iPod learning. Have you had any luck?

Week 5: Additions to Storyboard of the iPod as an Innovation

(Due to the size of the file, I had to zip it. It is not saved as a video file yet, so you need MovieMaker to view it. I will fix this soon)
Erin,
I have unzipped the file, but I am still unable to view the video. I am taken to the storyboard compilation (I think that's what it's called) screen.
~Angela

Erin,
I was not able to view your file as well. When I click on the file, it opens movie maker but not your file. Look forward to seeing it.
-Jolandra

This has been a hectic week and this not working has been the icing on the cake. Anyway, I finally fixed as a ppt. My videos are too large and the music puts it way over. So here it is (just the innovation-decision process) for now.

Erin,
Take the time to exhale. I know technology as wonderful as it is can be very frustrating. This is a learning process. I reviewed your PowerPoint. Excellent details and research! I actually thought Apple invented this innovation. I suppose the use of marketing is important for getting the public's acceptance. I think your images were excellent. Once you work out the glitches and add your video, it will be even better! One suggestion is making it more of a timeline might emphasize when the process took place. I could see a progression with the iPods but maybe if the dates were listed in the data as well, the time frame could easily be deteremined. I look forward to what is to come!
-Jolandra

Erin,

You are doing fine! I am still working on the rough edges of my presentation. I am going to use a mixture of PowerPoint and MovieMaker. My posts are very, very rough at this point. I have this finished product in my head, but there is no way that I can do it all and get it posted within one week. I am having to convert video and research more articles to provide valid arguments. Just hang in there and we all know the final presentation will be different than your works in progress. We are all there with you!

Cynthia

Erin-

It seems to be progressing just fine. Keep up your hard work and you will end up with something remarkable. Remember for moviemaker all pictures, video and music must all be kept together or the project won't work correctly.

Kassidy

Thanks! Most of my frustrations are coming from my pregnancy =) I'm 26 weeks, nesting, and nothing seems 'right' to me at this time, especially projects with my perfectionist personality!

Congrats on your future scholar! Hang in there. . .
Jolandra

Week 6: S-Curve

Please remember that the final version will be a video and have videos embedded.

Erin,

This is great! I love the color and the information. It is easily read and understood. I am struggling with virtual field trips, but you are an inspiration! I will keep plugging alone and get it all together eventually! Great work!!!

Cynthia

Erin,

Great job! You attribute the increase in sales to the holiday seasons. There are several peaks on your graphs. Which months are these occurring?

Angela

On the slide before the graph, I explain how the quarters are broken down and then explain the peaks as holiday sales on another slide =)

Erin,
Your work is excellent. I actually wasn't sure how to develop my S-curve graph until I viewed your work. Bravo! I can see the progression based on sales. I think this is a excellent approach instead of dates. The use of sales is an good way to show societies acceptance of the iPod over time.
-Jolandra

Erin-
Nicely done. The increase during holiday seasons was something that I hadn't thought about either. It looks like you have a project to be very proud of. Good work keep it up.

Kassidy

Week 7
Please remember that the final version will be a video and have videos embedded.

Erin,

I like this. I like the colors and the information is good. At least you got yours on slides. Mine is just a document. Hang in there! You are doing fine!

Cynthia

Erin,
The information from the research studies you provided is really good! Thank you for the resources!!
Angela

Erin,
I am adding my feedback late because I was out of town. Your examples do very well at suppporting your statements. I see lots of work in progress. Great work so far! I think it will only be enhanced when you add the videos.
-Jolandra

Week 8
Hello! I am going out of town the end of this week. I did not add any 'bells and whistles' due to lack of time. Getting the information in was the most important task for me. I let Dr.Thornburg know that I will be gone and will be responding late =) Thanks!

This is good, Erin. I still love the colors and your information is very credible. I look forward to seeing the completed project.

Cynthia

Erin-
Just like I said to Cynthia sometimes life happens! And heck it should those are the things that make life fun! Good information even without any bells and whistles!
Kassidy

Erin,
You have done a great job or researching this topic. It seems that we all agree that a decentralized approach is the best way to implement our various innovations in education. You mentioned North Gwinnett in your PowerPoint. Did I miss that you are also in Georgia?
Angela

Erin,
This is great content. If this is what you do in a pinch, your final will be outstanding! I find that educators need that support of a change agent in every adoption process. Good call! Keep on working, it will all come together in the end.
-Jolandra

Week 9: Final Addition =)

Good going, Erin. I love the colors....I think I have said that a million times, but I am a very visual person! What did you think of the information that Dr. Thornburg sent us about the iPod?
I look forward to your final presentation!

Cynthia

I thought the article was very interesting! In fact, my husband had read it earlier that day and since he is my proof-reader, he was excited to discuss it with me =)

Erin,
Great final argument. I also look forward to your final presentation.
Angela

Erin,
Bravo! I like the personal appeal to your final arguments. I words were a challenge that I felt like I want to take. You gave me some ideas how to end my presentation and provide an argument to others.
-Jolandra

Erin- Nicely done. Like I said I can't wait to borrow this from you! Kassidy

Final Product =)
My presentation is separated in to four videos due to time constraints.

Erin,
I keep getting a message that your video is private so I can't see it. Do you have the URL so I could go online and see it instead of from here? I can't wait!
Jolandra

It should work now; please let me know =)

Erin- I cannot see it either. Kassidy

Erin- I was just able to watch your video and your information was excellent. I wish there would have been more music incorporated, but the information was great. I think you definitely made a statement with your presentation. And, afterall wasn't that the whole purpose of this assingnment! Did you post this to youtube or teacher tube? I would like to be able to access it in its entirety so I could use it in my school.

Kassidy

Erin,

I enjoyed your video segments. Although there was a lot of text, you used pretty colors and that appealed to me and kept me interested. (I am such a visual learner) I would like to see it all together on TeacherTube or YouTube. You did a great job...lots of really good information!

I wish you the best in future classes!

Cynthia Harrison

Erin,
I agree you had a great presentation. I think like me you included a lot of text. However, I really think you incorporated a lot of research which gets your point across. Good luck in your future courses.
Jolandra

Erin,
Your video presentation was very informative. Your research was wonderful. Your transitions were smooth from one segment to the next. Great job!
Angela

Thank you for the great feedback and criticism! I did post this on YouTube =) I have really enjoyed sharing this class with you all and have learned a lot from your presentations. Hopefully, we can work together again sometime!
